We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect
Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for
the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the
Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and
establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
With this short statement, the participants of the Constitutional
Convention proceeded to outline what powers and limitations the
federal government would be given. This was carefully constructed in
seven Articles, with ten Amendments to follow shortly thereafter.
The Founders saw a need to restrain government - and for good
reason. They knew the havoc a large, out-of-control government could
cause because they experienced it firsthand - and they read their
history. They were determined not to make the same mistakes of the
Today, the Constitution is all but ignored. The federal government
is taking over every aspect of business and the free market. The
Supreme Court is legislating from the bench. The states, who formed
the government in the first place, are now held hostage to federal
monies that will be denied them should they not conform. The people
are frightened of their government, instead of the other way around,
as the Founding Fathers originally intended. Our founding principles
have been turned on their head and the Founders are surely spinning
in their graves.
ACON (American Community Organizational Network) has been formed to
gather like-minded, motivated individuals, to organize a response to
the attack on our Constitution. We are the antithesis of groups like
ACORN and the ACLU. We hold a
conservative/libertarian/constitutionalist view of our great
country. Join us in building a consensus to get those elected to
office who best reflect these views.
